"Keep close to nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." - John Muir
Every time I think back on my trek around the Annapurnas (March 2014), I get an overwhelming appreciation for God's creation and the people of Nepal. I think about the adorable tea houses we stayed in, the doctor that motorcycled from an hour away to give Jordan meds and wait until his fever broke (cost=$30), to the tallest mountains in the world towering above, just waiting for us to take a break, a deep breath and a look around to appreciate them.
I also have those feelings of pure awe and appreciation for Nepal because of the devastation that came so quickly after we left. My thoughts and prayers go to the villages we trekked through that might not exist anymore.
My favorite memory: Getting over that 18,000ft "hump" and after trekking for 14 hours straight, biting into a yak burger topped with yak cheese.
